A STRONG TECHNICAL PLATEFORM
At the heart of the Special 25 lies De Cillia’s high-power single-ended Class A KT150 output stage, conceived with hi-fi design principles, where bandwidth, noise performance, and dynamic response are treated as essential musical elements.
This power architecture defines De Cillia’s approach to amplification and is central to the immediacy, depth, and feel of the Special 25.
PUSHING THE LIMITS
The clean channel provides a high-headroom foundation that is open, fast, and highly touch-responsive, voiced more mid-forward than the Single 25. It remains articulate and solid even at higher volumes, making it an ideal platform for expressive playing.
The drive channel, with independent Gain and Master Volume, introduces a vocal, sustaining overdrive, from bluesy textures to wild saturation. Inspired by the Overdrive Special philosophy and reinterpreted through De Cillia’s high-power Class A design.
A footswitchable Boost lets the clean channel shine with extra volume, while on the drive channel it adds more distortion without raising the overall level.
A Mid Boost enhances the 500 Hz–2 kHz range, giving overdriven tones a singing, violin-like sustain and richer harmonic presence.
From subtle harmonic enhancement to dense, articulate saturation, the Special 25 maintains clarity, definition, and string-to-string separation at all gain levels.
The Special 25 is equally at home in blues and expressive rock as it is in post-punk, alternative, and shoegaze, offering a wide tonal spectrum while maintaining focus, definition, and control.
The drive channel cleans up exceptionally well — rolling back the guitar’s volume produces a vivid, articulate clean tone, retaining clarity and responsiveness.
TAILORED NEW FEATURES
A high-definition buffered effects loop, with adjustable send level, is placed after the drive stage, ensuring seamless integration of modulation, delay, and ambient effects while preserving the amplifier’s core tone and dynamics.
The combo is fitted with a Fane F70 speaker, chosen for its ability to deliver strong clean headroom, controlled, weighty low mids and a mid-voiced distortion that remains controlled and articulate.
Housed in a compact combo format, the cabinet has been carefully acoustically optimized, with internal treatment designed to produce full, growly low mids while maintaining tightness, control, and precision across the entire frequency range.
Innovative power control
The Special 25 also incorporates De Cillia’s unique power reconfiguration system, allowing the output stage to operate at 4, 10, or 25 watts. This makes it possible to access the full tonal complexity and responsiveness of the KT150 at any volume level — from intimate studio settings to stage applications — without sacrificing feel or articulation.
For those seeking an even lower power, a customized version with a 2W lowest setting is available on request.
Thanks to its proprietary, -entirely analog- reconfigurable autobias system, the amp adjusts its internal parameters to truly modify output power, ensuring tonal consistency at every level. Tube replacement is effortless, with the system automatically calibrating bias for optimal performance. Curious to know more about the system ? Find out more here.
LOW NOISE - STUDIO GRADE
A proprietary high-voltage regulated power supply ensures tight bass and exceptional clarity. Additionally, it enables ultra-low noise, making the Special 25 ideal for recording. The amp’s robust 2mm PCB, built with double the industry-standard copper thickness, ensures both durability and superior signal integrity. Carefully designed ground planes and power regulation result in noise levels well below those of competing amplifiers.
vibration control for superior sound
As you may have experienced, combo amplifiers often suffer from unwanted tube rattle and vibrations, which can degrade tone and reliability. The Single 25 solves this using advanced mechanical isolation. The entire PCB and tubes are mounted on custom silicone dampers, reducing vibrations to enhance clarity and durability. Curious to see how it performs? You can find comparative measurements made during development here.
Compact and Lightweight
The Special 25 delivers impressive power in a portable design. Custom toroidal transformers and an aluminum chassis ensure lightweight durability, while the solid pine enclosure reduces weight and enhances tonal richness with a fuller, more lively sound.
built to last
The Special 25 is a first-class professional guitar amplifier designed with reliability at its core. In that sense, it comes with an industry-leading 10-year warranty.
